Frequently asked questions
What does the Single User tier cover?
Full Fiber Damage Locator access for one account. If you have an OTDR, you can already generate
a .sor trace file at a fault site — what you've been missing is a way to turn that distance
measurement into a GPS coordinate and street address without a full GIS system behind you. Single
User gives you OTDR fault location, the ability to draw your own fiber routes on the satellite map,
a GeoJSON export so you can build a personal library of the cable paths you work on, and a
one-page PDF map export for handing off a clean as-built record of the fault and route to anyone
who needs it. $29.99/month (or $299/year). No mapping system required.
What happens after the 7-day trial?
Your account is paused. Your data is retained for 30 days.
Upgrade to Small Team, or the Facility Database System, at any time to restore access.
Contact us if you need an extension —
we're reasonable.
Can I run this on-premises (air-gapped)?
Yes. The backend is a Python Flask application that runs entirely on a
local server. This is the Facility Database System's white-glove option —
contact us for details.
What OTDR file formats are supported?
Standard Bellcore SR-4731 .sor format, which is exported by EXFO, VIAVI,
JDSU, Yokogawa, and most commercial OTDR instruments. If your instrument
exports a different format, contact us.
What does the white-glove "audited and built" option include?
An on-site engagement where we audit your facility's racks, patch panels,
preterm connections, and OCEF cabinets — including where each preterm
connects to the outside plant fiber — and deliver a clean, fully
documented Facility Database System ready to hand off, instead of setting
it up yourself. Splice cases and other outside plant assets stay with
your GIS system; this audit covers what's inside the facility.
Pricing is per-site based on scope.

How accurate is the fault location?
Our accuracy target is ±500 ft of the actual break point, consistent with
the OTDR's inherent dead-zone and the GPS accuracy of splice case coordinates.
Importing accurate vendor splice case GPS data and measured cable footage
(Option 1) typically achieves better results than the manual draw mode.
